Being Ready When It Matters Most: Our Team’s CPR Training

A few weeks ago, members of our team set aside time to complete CPR training. It’s the kind of skill you hope you never have to use — but if the moment ever comes, being ready can make all the difference.

We wanted to share why this mattered to us, and what it says about how we work.

Why does a fuel and logistics company train its team in CPR?

Our business is energy logistics, not emergency medicine. So why CPR?

The answer is simple: the same instinct that drives us to look out for each other on the job doesn’t stop when the shift ends. A coworker, a family member, or a stranger could one day need help — and in those moments, knowing what to do is everything. CPR training is one practical way we prepare our people to step in when it counts.

For us, safety has never been just a checklist. It’s part of how we show up for one another every day.

What did the training cover?

The session focused on the fundamentals that matter most in a real emergency: recognizing when someone needs help, performing hands-on CPR with proper technique, and responding with confidence rather than hesitation. Team members had the chance to practice directly with the guidance of qualified instructors, so the skills feel familiar if they’re ever needed.

These are skills that stay with a person well beyond the workday — at home, in their communities, and anywhere life happens.

How does this fit into our culture?

One of our core values is simple: we look out for each other. CPR training is a quiet, practical expression of that idea. It isn’t flashy, and it doesn’t show up on a balance sheet. But it reflects a belief we take seriously — that caring for people is the foundation on which everything else is built.

We’re grateful to the team members who took the time to learn, and to the instructors who prepared them. Investing in our people this way is one of the things we’re most proud of, even though we’d rather these skills were never needed.
