Fuel does not move itself. Behind every jobsite generator, every fleet that leaves the yard on time, and every emergency delivery at 2 a.m. is a driver who got it there. At ARG Petro, drivers are not a line item. They are the company.
We are always hiring. If you hold a Class A CDL and you are weighing your next move, here is a straight look at the work, the requirements, and what you can expect from us.
Is ARG Petro hiring CDL drivers right now?
Yes. We hire year-round. Fuel demand does not pause, and neither does our need for qualified drivers. Even if the timing is not right for you today, our openings are posted and updated at https://argpetro.com/careers/.
What CDL endorsements do you need to haul fuel?
You need a Class A CDL with hazmat (H) and tanker (N) endorsements, or the combined X endorsement. Hauling petroleum products is regulated work, and those endorsements confirm you have been tested on the handling and safety requirements that come with it. A clean driving record and the ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen are also required.
If you have your Class A but not your endorsements yet, it is still worth reaching out. Endorsements are obtainable, and we would rather talk to a good driver early than miss one.
What does a fuel delivery driver actually do?
The job is more than driving. A typical day includes pre-trip inspections, loading at the rack, verifying product and quantity, running your route, and delivering safely into customer tanks, fleet yards, cardlock sites, or remote locations.
You are responsible for grounding, bonding, and following loading and offloading procedures every single time. You handle paperwork and documentation. You communicate with dispatch and with customers. You are often the only ARG Petro employee a customer sees that week, which means you represent the company at every stop.
What kind of routes and customers will you serve?
ARG Petro provides bulk fuel delivery across Texas to customers in transportation and logistics, railroad, construction, oil and gas, marine, agriculture, mining, aviation, and government. That means the work varies. One day may be commercial fleet fueling at a carrier terminal. Another may be construction-site fueling on active ground or remote-site fuel delivery well outside city limits.
Depending on the role and location, drivers may run day routes, night routes, or on-call rotations. We are honest about that up front. Fuel logistics runs 24/7, and some roles reflect that.
What makes driving for a family-owned fuel distributor different?
ARG Petro was founded in 1942 in Laredo, Texas, by Peter R. Arguindegui, Sr. Four generations later, the family is still running the company. That shows up in practical ways.
Dispatch knows your name. Decisions do not travel through six layers of corporate. Equipment gets maintained before it becomes a problem, because a truck that is down does not help anyone, least of all the driver assigned to it. And when something goes sideways on a route, you have people who answer the phone.
Our core values are not framed art. We Look Out for Each Other. Give First. Win Together. Own It. Candor. Drivers feel those in the day-to-day, or they do not exist at all.
How seriously does ARG Petro take safety?
Serious enough to give every employee stop-work authority. If a delivery does not look right, if a site is unsafe, if equipment is not correct, you stop. No one is going to second-guess you for it. Nobody gets a call asking why the load was late when the reason was that the situation was not safe.
We haul flammable and hazardous products for a living. The margin for cutting corners is zero, and we do not ask drivers to find one.
What should you expect from the hiring process?
Apply online, and a member of our team will review your application, driving history, and endorsements. From there, expect a conversation about your experience, the routes and terminals we are staffing, and what you are looking for. If it is a fit on both sides, we move to background, MVR, DOT physical, and drug screening, then orientation and training.
We would rather have the honest conversation early than put a driver in the wrong seat.
What if you are not ready to apply yet?
That is fine. Maybe you are finishing out a commitment somewhere, working on your endorsements, or simply keeping an eye on the market. Bookmark our careers page and check back. We are always hiring, and the door is never closed.
Ready to talk?
ARG Petro has been moving fuel across Texas since 1942, and we are still growing. If you want to drive for a company where safety is real, equipment is well maintained, and the people in the office know you by name, we would like to hear from you.
